Heather Fyffe

FCMB Director of Music

Heather Fyffe is a musician, teacher, conductor, and collaborative pianist dedicated to music education and performance. She earned her BMus degree from Acadia University and her MMus from the University of Victoria. With three decades of involvement in local arts communities across Canada, she now resides in her hometown of Fredericton, New Brunswick.

As a versatile musician, Ms. Fyffe plays trombone with the Fredericton Symphony Orchestra and STU Jazz, serves as a church organist, and excels as a collaborative pianist, working with both students and professionals. For over a decade, she led the Fredericton Choral Society as its conductor. In local musical theatre productions, Heather often takes on roles as Musical Director or contributes her skills to the orchestra pit.

Teaching has always been a central part of Heather's musical career. She imparts her knowledge through private piano and theory lessons, and currently teaches in the Fine Arts faculty at St. Thomas University. As a Registered Music Teacher, she has held various administrative positions in local and provincial RMT councils, and currently serves as a Member-at-Large with the NBRMTA Council. Heather recently earned a Certificate in Contemporary Management in Arts & Culture from UNB, which led to her becoming the Secretary for the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations (CFMTA).

Heather takes special pride in her position as conductor of the Fredericton Concert and Marching Band, a position she has held since 2009, as it brings around to full circle her own teenage years as a young member of the band.
